About XAT
XAT is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur for admission to its flagship BM and HRM programs. It is accepted by over 150 B-schools including XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT, and others. XAT is known for its unique Decision Making section and the Essay Writing component, which distinguishes it from other MBA entrance exams.
Eligibility Criteria
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 3 years duration. • Final year students can also apply. • No minimum percentage required. • No age limit.
Exam Pattern
Part 1 (165 minutes): • Verbal & Logical Ability: 26 questions • Decision Making: 21 questions • Quantitative Ability & DI: 28 questions • Marking: +1 correct, -0.25 incorrect, -0.10 for >8 unattempted Part 2 (25 minutes): • General Knowledge: 25 questions (no negative marking)
Syllabus
Verbal & Logical Ability: Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, Para-completion, Para-jumbles. Decision Making: Analytical reasoning, situational judgement, ethical dilemmas, complex arrangements. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Modern Maths, DI sets. General Knowledge (non-MCQ, no negative marking): Business, economy, international affairs, static GK.
