About NEET
NEET is the single national entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, and other medical undergraduate courses across India. It replaced all state-level and institute-level medical entrance exams. Over 20 lakh students appear for NEET every year, making it one of the most competitive exams in India.
Eligibility Criteria
• Passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology with English. • Minimum 50% in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for PwD). • Age: Minimum 17 years as of December 31 of admission year. • No upper age limit (Supreme Court order, 2021). • Unlimited attempts.
Exam Pattern
• Total Questions: 200 (180 to be attempted) • Sections: Physics (50), Chemistry (50), Biology — Botany (50), Biology — Zoology (50) • Each section: Section A (35 MCQ, all mandatory) + Section B (15 MCQ, attempt any 10) • Marking: +4 for correct, -1 for incorrect • Total Marks: 720 • Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes • Medium: 13 languages
Syllabus
Biology (90 questions — 360 marks): Botany: Cell Biology, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, Reproduction in Plants. Zoology: Animal Tissue, Human Physiology (Digestion, Respiration, Excretion, Reproduction), Human Health & Disease, Biotechnology. Physics (45 questions — 180 marks): Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Optics, Nuclear Physics, Semiconductors. Chemistry (45 questions — 180 marks): Chemical Bonding, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Polymers.
