About JEE Main

JEE Main is the national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs at NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) across India. It also serves as the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to IITs. The exam tests candidates on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Class 11 and 12 levels.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. • Minimum 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST). • No age limit for B.E./B.Tech; Age limit of 25 years (30 for SC/ST) for B.Arch. • Candidates can attempt JEE Main a maximum of 3 consecutive years.

Exam Pattern

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech): • Total Questions: 90 (75 to be attempted) • Sections: Physics (30), Chemistry (30), Mathematics (30) • MCQs + Numerical Answer Type • Marking: +4 for correct, -1 for incorrect MCQ, no negative for numerical • Duration: 3 hours Paper 2A (B.Arch): Mathematics + Aptitude + Drawing Paper 2B (B.Planning): Mathematics + Aptitude + Planning

Physics: Units & Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy & Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, Modern Physics. Chemistry: Basic Concepts, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Organic Chemistry (Basics to Named Reactions), Coordination Compounds, Biomolecules. Mathematics: Sets & Relations, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Permutations & Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sequences & Series, Limits, Derivatives, Integrals, Differential Equations, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Statistics & Probability.
